Guildwars Guide

Looking into some products that I can hopefully review for my blog, I recently stumbled upon the official Prima Guildwars guide. Many hardcore Guildwars players had already bought the said guide so I guess it will be a good subject for review.

The official Prima Guildwars guide includes many features. These features includes analysis of every profession, complete skill list, PvP tips and tactics (a must since Guildwars is a game focusing on PvP), highly detailed area maps, complete storyline mission walkthroughs, and a removable world map to boot. These and more are available at a reasonable price.

While this Guildwars guide will really cost you money, how about looking upon the customer's review of this product. While we all know that like other MMORPGs, the Guildwars environment is an ever changing world, can this guide really contain the best tactics and strategies you can use as you battle monsters and other players in-game?

This official Guildwars guide is currently rated 3.5 stars among Amazon.com customers. Not bad for an MMORPG guide (considering the ever-changing MMORPG scene), but is it really worth your money?

After reviewing some of the comments on this Guildwars guide, I can safely conclude that this one's pretty average. Most of the people exclaimed that it features the most accurate maps, which really conquered the plus side of this guide. The character descriptions and main quests analysis are good as well and will be a good starting point for every beginner wishing to get playing right the first time. However, this doesn't hide the fact that the info included in the book can be very outdated since the book had been released during the beta stages of Guildwars. Therefore, this guide may not be much help to the advanced Guildwars player that wants to see something new to add to his/her gameplay.

All in all, I suggest you just join forums and as your in-game friends on the aspects of the game. After playing MMORPG after MMORPG, I really believe that asking someone from discussion groups is the best guide of all since these kinds of game environment changes a lot. Especially when expansions are released on a constant basis just like in Guildwars. However, for the lazy, you can always check out the Guildwars guide. :)

Final Fantasy XI Accounts

With the rise in popularity of the online game Final Fantasy XI also comes those that buy Final Fantasy XI accounts. This had been the same issue discussed on my previous post entitled "I Need A Free Good Runescape Account..." but instead of a free online game like Runescape, this article will now tackle with Final Fantasy XI accounts.

That's the main difference right? Unlike the always free Runescape accounts, Final Fantasy XI accounts are not free to make and will cost you a monthly service fee to play. However, for those who are really really rich in real life, buying Final Fantasy XI accounts comes with a higher price tag too.

But be warned though, as with any serious enough online gaming setup, Final Fantasy XI admins don't take too lightly on players engaging in RMT (Real Money Trading), cheating, as well as buying Final Fantasy XI accounts. Recent news last October 24, 2007 even showed that they suspended or banned about 7900 accounts in violation of these rules. So, I suggest that if you're going to get Final Fantasy XI accounts, maybe it would be safer if you get one from a reliable source. Your friend perhaps?

I've done Google searching for some Final Fantasy XI accounts too since I'm really curious at how much these accounts can sell, but unfortunately, none of the sites I searched showed true, genuine Final Fantasy XI accounts for sale.

So, I suggest keep your money to yourself and just play the game. Find guides to help you out and have fun. That's how online games are meant to be played anyways. :)

Maplestory Monsters

The avid Maplestory player already knows how cute Maplestory monsters really are. However, don't be fooled by their cuteness, some of them are a real pain on the butt and you have to kill many of them to level up in this side-scrolling MMORPG.

Starting from snails, you work your way up to seemingly harmless mushrooms and slimes. After that of course, are the real serious looking ones. Ribboned pigs and armored pigs count as one of those. All in all, Maplestory monsters are really vast in proportion to their cuteness.

One thing to also take note is that Maplestory uses colors to also interpret the possible toughness of a specific monster. This color scheme reminds me of the popular Korean MMORPG Ragnarok and another "cute" MMORPG Flyff, which are somewhat like Maplestory in using "weak" and "tough" color schemes to portray the monsters fighting level.

Another factor in determining a Maplestory monsters' toughness and level would be the "size factor". This had already been a standard in most MMORPGs and I guess it will really stick until the end of time. This is quite obvious. Most larger-than-average Maplestory monsters are more likely to put you out of your game compared to smaller ones. Boss monsters will also fit this criteria.

Let's look at one of the first Maplestory monsters you'll encounter for instance: the snail. The weakest snail would be the lame colored green one. If you'll compare that to the blue and red snails, you'll definitely see the size difference. The green is smaller than that of the blue and red snails and it may tickle you for 1 hit point if you're not careful enough. :P

Considering also the blue and red snails, since red is a color sign of aggresiveness, the red snail hurts more than the blue one. This clearly proves the color theory on Maplestory monsters.

However, I suggest not concerning yourself with snails. This is just a brief rundown on the basic understanding of Maplestory monsters. There are other nastier monsters out there all ripe for your picking! Level up hard and kill 'em all! :)

"I Need A Free Good Runescape Account And You're Not Helping!"

Oh well...

What's really amazing about the Runescape community is that they have the highest number of players that are trying to find Runescape accounts to play as their own. I've known people trying to buy Runescape gold (or their own type of currency in the case of other MMORPGs) but I really don't quite understand why requests like: "I need a free good Runescape account" and "I need a high level Runescape account" is scattered like disturbed ants through the whole world wide web.

You already know why, don't you?

Because Runescape accounts are already free to start with anyways!

Runescape had always been one of the most populated online games in history. Not to mention that it's perfectly free to create your starting account. While the graphics of this game might not be that great, the unique freedom within this game is just the right formula to grab a starting player's fantasy for many years to come.

Premium membership is quite cheap too. It's only $5 a month. I guess that if you're still just a kid without a credit card, you're dad (or mom) won't even mind paying this fee for you. Just tell them that the game will keep you away from crack - that works wonders every time! :P

However, for those really hardcore and real-life-rich Runescape players, I won't be keeping your money inside your wallet. There are already a number of sites that offer Runescape accounts, however, these accounts always come with a price. Just Google some and you'll find one for sure.

Sorry, but the statement: "I need a free good Runescape account" won't get you much "free Runescape accounts" because the only way I think that you'll get one like this is when your really really close friend gives you one. You can always save your allowance for buying one though.

Check out http://www.gamelee.com/. You may find one here but I don't think that it's really what you're looking for. Unless, you're really after specific types and what they feature on their website is what you're really looking for. Well, I'll be really amazed. :)

But I still really suggest that you just play and persist for your own Runescape account. It's more rewarding that way and will really worth more fun in the long run.

Lord Of The Rings Online Mods

Now, for you guys who are thinking of getting some of them juicy Lord of the Rings online mods are in for a good treat.

For those who don't know what these mods are for, I guess that they are just like what others call as add ons. These Lord of the Rings online mods are here to hopefully enhance your LOTRO gameplay and may also help you gain more information on playing Lord of the Rings Online.

Well, I haven't used any of these Lord of the Rings online mods for myself so I can't really comment much (since I don't really play LOTRO), but I guess it's up to the gamers to decide for themselves. I guess that also means you. :)

Although I'm writing this blog for the sheer interest only in online games and I'm not playing LOTRO at all, I guess it will really be good for my readers to find some resources for them to enjoy online rpg gaming to the fullest. After all, this blog is called Play RPG right?

Just like when searching for Lord of the Rings online mods for instance. :P

Anyway, I won't hold you much longer. However, if you really would like to chat more, then I'll be forced to fill this post with more of the boring stuff I do every single day of my life.

Not interested? Well, I guessed that much. :)

Check out this site for your Lord of the Rings online mods: http://www.lotrointerface.com/index.php

Now, what they call Lord of the Rings online mods here are Lord of the Rings online interfaces but they are all the same. Chances are you'll find what you're looking for here. They have a very good online community where players (just like you) can also upload their own mods. Check it out to learn more.

World Of Warcraft Add Ons

In case you don't know yet, you can definitely use World of Warcraft add ons to help you and also enhance your gaming experience with WoW. This is possible because Blizzard (the creator of the Warcraft game series) made the World of Warcraft user interface open to players to customize their own modules which in turn, enhances their gaming experience.

World of Warcraft add ons are definitely legal to use. However, there is always this disclaimer that you're responsible for how these World of Warcraft add ons will behave on your computer.

Information is power right? I guess this is also true in the world of Warcraft.

Most of these World of Warcraft add ons only provide information. Information that you will have a hard time gathering without the add ons. This includes experience points earned in an hour of levelling, enemy casting time (used mainly for you to provide counter-casts with the right timing - everytime!), World of Warcraft add ons for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters and many others.

There are also World of Warcraft add ons that provide not only information, but also eases gameplay. This is a big advantage to the average gamer. Imagine an item rack where you can just specify a hot key for you to equip a specific item against special monster encounters. You would really like to have that right?

World of Warcraft add ons can also help you in item shopping and making wise decisions in shopping. This feature gets you more gold so I really suggest browsing for one.

Anyway, it will be very good for you to get your own World of Warcraft add ons. Check out this site for add ons that may help your World of Warcraft gaming experience: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/addons/

Best Free RPG Games

Well, the last post talked about the best Pay-to-Play RPG games and I guess that most of my readers here would really like something free so here it goes: the best free RPG Games in the planet. Of course, as always, data is still stolen from Gameogre.com (you can visit their site here: http://www.gameogre.com/).

I swear that this is the last time that I'll be stealing top games from their site. I can't really help it since it is such a very good site and while I'm Googling for some best free RPG games, their site just pops out like a mushroom. Maybe it's fate. :P

Anyway, here it goes. Unlike the p2p games in the last post, I actually played some of these best free RPG games. That's how cheap I am so there. 'Nuff said.

I'm ranting too much on this. Let's just start.

  1. Guild Wars - Umm... Well, this one is actually paid but just for once. This just means that you pay for the software once, but the service is actually free. Clearly the best free RPG game. Graphics are superb and gameplay is nice.
  2. Rappelz - Gameogre.com states that it is actually the best looking freebie. I tried getting this once but the game can't run on my crappy computer.
  3. Runescape - Crappy graphics but is now one of the most populated MMORPGs. Some of the people who played this claim that the game has infinite paths to character development to choose from. You gotta just check it out to see.
  4. Maple Story - Cute 2D characters make up this contender for best free RPG games. The action is side-scrolling and it's quite cool aside from the occasional kill-steal on over-populated maps (can't help it if it's side-scrolling right?).
  5. Sword of the New World - This is also known as Granado Espada in our country. Developed by the Ragnarok Online designer Hakkyu Kim, I've been waiting for this for months. You control 3 characters, the graphics are nice, and it's very cool too! Definitely one that I'll be playing once I upgrade my crappy computer.
  6. Flyff - The cute characters are flying! Flyff is actually an acronym for Fly For Fun. Flying is a mandatory skill to learn. The quests are good and the world is nice.
  7. Supreme Destiny - I don't know this one, but Gameogre.com says that this actually has very good 3D graphics. Gotta try this one later.
  8. Dungeon Runners - Quick quest completions. Play and run is the supposedly theme of this one.
  9. Shadowbane - One of the best PvP system of the best free RPG games.
  10. Albatross 18 - It's golf! Golf and play... err... Play golf and play... eh? Anyway, this one has a sports theme and the characters are cute. There!
There you have it, the Best Free RPG Games in the world. Unlike the P2P games you had seen from the last post, these ones you may check out for free - that is if your computer is not half as crappy as mine. :)

Happy playing! Check out this blog for more RPG news and anything-under-the-sun RPG in the next few days.

Best Online RPG Games

Done a search on Google lately and found the best online RPG games in the planet today. I was really hoping to find content for my newly established blog and my first comment is "Wow! Finding the best online RPG games is really as easy as pie!".

Gameogre.com really plucked it all out from the best of the best. After doing some more browsing on their website, I found that they categorized best online RPG games from best MMORPGs. I can't really check out the difference but what I really wanted was MMORPG news so I will be including that top 10 on this blog.

The best of the best online RPG games would be the following (according to gameogre.com):

  1. World of Warcraft - This one is a given. WoW, I think is really the most talked about game today. If you don't know WoW yet, well... I really don't know what to say. :P
  2. Eve Online - The best sci-fi game.
  3. Lord of the Rings Online - Based upon the popular book and movie series, it simply took the world by storm.
  4. Final Fantasy XI - The online Final Fantasy. After years and years (and never getting to the final), Squaresoft is still milking this cashcow.
  5. City of Heroes/City of Villains - Wanna be a super someone? This game would be the best for you.
  6. Dark Age of Camelot - One of the best for PvP combat.
  7. EverQuest - Was once the most dominant MMORPG in the U.S.
  8. Dungeons and Dragons Online - Liked the DnD series. Here's your MMORPG.
  9. Lineage 2 - Another best in PvP. Lineage 2 is still expanding in Asia as of today.
  10. Saga of Ryzom - I personally don't know this one but Gameogre.com ranked this high with great story and max freedom so I guess that's good too.
Want to know more about the best online RPG games? Visit http://www.gameogre.com/ for more news and rankings of your favorite games.

This list is just from the P2P page. There are other good RPG games from the free section, but I guess that it will have to wait until the next post. Other free MMORPG games like Guildwars and Runescape are under that section and really deserves a post of their own.
