Maplestory Monsters

The avid Maplestory player already knows how cute Maplestory monsters really are. However, don't be fooled by their cuteness, some of them are a real pain on the butt and you have to kill many of them to level up in this side-scrolling MMORPG.

Starting from snails, you work your way up to seemingly harmless mushrooms and slimes. After that of course, are the real serious looking ones. Ribboned pigs and armored pigs count as one of those. All in all, Maplestory monsters are really vast in proportion to their cuteness.

One thing to also take note is that Maplestory uses colors to also interpret the possible toughness of a specific monster. This color scheme reminds me of the popular Korean MMORPG Ragnarok and another "cute" MMORPG Flyff, which are somewhat like Maplestory in using "weak" and "tough" color schemes to portray the monsters fighting level.

Another factor in determining a Maplestory monsters' toughness and level would be the "size factor". This had already been a standard in most MMORPGs and I guess it will really stick until the end of time. This is quite obvious. Most larger-than-average Maplestory monsters are more likely to put you out of your game compared to smaller ones. Boss monsters will also fit this criteria.

Let's look at one of the first Maplestory monsters you'll encounter for instance: the snail. The weakest snail would be the lame colored green one. If you'll compare that to the blue and red snails, you'll definitely see the size difference. The green is smaller than that of the blue and red snails and it may tickle you for 1 hit point if you're not careful enough. :P

Considering also the blue and red snails, since red is a color sign of aggresiveness, the red snail hurts more than the blue one. This clearly proves the color theory on Maplestory monsters.

However, I suggest not concerning yourself with snails. This is just a brief rundown on the basic understanding of Maplestory monsters. There are other nastier monsters out there all ripe for your picking! Level up hard and kill 'em all! :)
